Basile Coutens, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow, CU Anschutz
After completing my PhD in France, I joined Dr. Ingram’s lab as a postdoctoral researcher, drawn by our mutual interests in soccer and, more importantly, in neuroscience. My research centers on uncovering the brain mechanisms underlying pain, mood disorders, and substance use disorders. I am particularly motivated by the challenge of understanding how these conditions interact and identifying new treatments. Currently, my main projects involve exploring the role of the endocannabinoid system in chronic inflammation within the vlPAG and investigating descending projections from the vlPAG to the RVM during chronic inflammation. Being part of the Ingram lab provides me an excellent opportunity to learn about electrophysiology while cultivating my passion for neuroscience in a supportive and enriching environment.
